Traditional / other approaches
There are other approaches to managing asthma that can be used alongside medicines.
These approaches include massage, diet, physiotherapy and breathing techniques such as Buteyko breathing. Different things work for different people and all options should be discussed with your doctor to find what’s right for you and your family.
Traditional and rongoa medicines have also been used to help manage asthma. Use of these medicines should be discussed with your doctor to avoid any interactions with your prescribed asthma medicine.
Royal jelly and bee pollen products have been shown to make asthma worse and should be avoided.
